In the picture above a manatee is eating,
one of their vegetation foods!
Manatees spend most of their time eating, resting, and traveling. They are herbivores but have swallowed up some small fish and other invertebrates while consuming their regular diet, plants. Florida Manatees consume a large variety of plants. They eat more than 60 species of plants, some of the plants eaten are turtle grass, manatee grass, shoal grass, mangrove leaves, algae, water hyacinth, and acorns. Manatees can eat a tenth of their weight in 24 hours.
