Habitat
Florida Manatees can be found in shallow water areas such as bays, canals, coastal areas, or slow moving rivers. They can live in fresh, salt, and brackish waters. Florida Manatees are a migratory animal. They need warm water, without it they would die. Even though manatees look fat, they have a very small amount of body fat. Manatees can't live with temperatures lower than 68 degrees, so at about 70 degrees they travel to warmer areas. They migrate to Florida in winter months and in summer months they migrate to Texas, Massachusetts, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.
